This modular system is designed for the Cambodian who lived within the area of Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia who are facing various threats especially the water pollution in the lake itself which subsequently affecting the general pollution of Cambodia. Our main concept is ‘Adaptation as the nucleus of Civilization’ to design a modular system to allow the Cambodian to adapt a more civilized lifestyle which we hope can improve their personal hygiene to a more extent the cleanliness of water used. Our main target is to design a modular which can easily be towed or transported from one to another place with ease, hence there is a fixed grid system installed on every modular system. By installing the grid system, it allows the modular to assemble and disassemble easily. This feature is designed in adaptation to the different condition of the lake, for example the high tide and low tide of the lake following the different seasons throughout the year. For every modular, there is sufficient amount of water tank installed on respective slot of each modular system. This water tank is basically their water supply and it can be refilled with rainwater harvesting system which is mounted on the rooftop of each modular systems. In terms of materiality, most part of the building are assembled using wood and bamboo which can be obtained locally in Cambodia and it subsequently promotes eco-construction towards the future. Moreover, aluminium structure is used to construct the grid system of the modular system due to the properties of the material which is durable, light, sustainable and its ability to resist rust. 4 different modular systems Healthcare Centre, Research Centre, Education Centre as well as Central Park and Market are designed to solve respective problems faced by the major population in Cambodia.
