Design Communication

Project 1(a): On-site Sketching

The main objective of this project is to understand the notion of space in architecture. By completing this assignment, I am able to develop my skills in visualizing of space through observation and perception of a given site and skills as a mode of communication. It took me around 1 week to complete the entire project which consists of 4 drawings (2 interior space & 2 exterior space).

Project 1(b): Tonal Value

The main objective of this project is to understand the notion of space in architecture. By completing this assignment, I am able to develop skills in communicating the above in various tonal and depth value as well as try out various techniques of hatching through different medium such as hatching, cross-hatching, stippling and scrbbling. It took me around 10 days to complete the entire project which consists of 4 drawings. Although it does take a long time to finish everything, I really enjoy the process of rendering these drawings. For me, this project drastically increase my interest towards drawings as I am really happy with what I have produced.

Orthographic

Axonometric

Perspective

In this project, we are all required to draw floor plan, building elevations, internal section as well as site plan of Eames House using technical pen (first-time user). We need to demonstrate drafting skills in modern and traditional methods of architectural drawing and record and present clear and legible architectural information manually. We need to identify and apply architectural conventions and symbols. We also need to demonstrate in pencil and ink to show our line weight, line types, line quality and hand lettering which can make significant difference in our drawings. It took me around 2 weeks to finish the butter paper and tracing paper drawings. Although in the end I am not satisfy with my final product, It had help me improve myself as a character.

In this project, we are required draw the internal structural of Eames House in 1:100 scale using axonometric (45°,45° or 30°,60°). We need to show the ability to express spatial ideas and architectural detail in three-dimension, in the format of anaxonometric projection and understanding of what axonometric projections are, how to generate them and how to apply themto the design process and presentation. It took me approximately 2 weeks to finish up the entire project. In my opinion, this is the hardest drawing among all the assignments given. If made me really frustrated when I realised I made a huge mistake when I was drawing the roof beam. Anyway, I did learn alot from the process of completing this assignment.

in this project, we are required to draw Eames House in one-point perspective and two-point perspective and ability to express spatial ideas and architectural detail in three-dimension. We also need to understand what perspectives (and its different types) are, how to generate them and how to apply them to the design process and presentation. Rendering and colouring are also required to improve our drawings. From there, I have learned how to capture the best angle to draw a building as well as the best  way to display my drawings in three dimensional. In my opinion, this is the best piece of Eames House technical drawing I produced, although the final grade given is not satisfying, I feel that I had tried my best to complete it in the given duration.
